pARTicipate is an art class for adult artists with additional support needs. It takes place in Arbroath and Montrose and is funded through Angus Council. The artists in these classes have been a huge part of our project. They are extremely talented.

Lily worked with the classes on a ‘Faces of Angus’ project, having previously worked with the group during Phase 1 of the Angus Remembers project. The groups were asked to choose photos of individuals who were important to them during the pandemic. Many chose their pets, as they had played a huge part in their experience of being forced to stay at home.

We created clay tiles with portraits of the artist’s chosen people or pets. The pieces are really inspiring!

Using clay is a great way of learning a new art skill. Creating a tile of a person who means a lot to you is a lovely way to show your appreciation for them. An artwork can also memorialise them if they are no longer with you.
