This quilt was made by Angus Remembers’ artist Lily Garget. Quilts have a history of storytelling and community. In the pockets of this quilt are people’s stories collected during our project. It acts as a holding place for those stories, holding them between the stitches.
The stories range from happy memories of the pandemic to reflections on how long COVID-19 has affected a member of our focus group. The quilt is kept in our Angus Remembers Memory Box. You can write your own reflection and add it to a pocket. Please be respectful of others who might use the quilt.
We asked our focus group, ‘What do you want to remember?’ with reference to the pandemic. Below are their responses.
You can create your own quilt like the one in our project. Lily shares ideas about different ways you can do this; sewing or sticking, with textiles or with paper.
